You have questions?
We have answers
Where should I start?
Most new students start with a Mixed Levels class – it’s our most flexible offering, with modifications for every body and experience level. If Mixed feels like too much movement, our Gentle classes are slower-paced and especially welcoming for bodies that want a softer entry. And if you’re looking to truly slow down, to be fully supported, cozy, and still, Restorative is your permission slip. All three are open to beginners. Not sure which feels right? Just email us and we’ll help you pick.
What should I wear?
Something comfortable you can move in. Leggings, shorts, a t-shirt, whatever feels good. You don’t need special yoga clothes. Most people practice barefoot, unless it’s a Restorative class and you want to stay cozy.
What should I bring?
A mat if you have one (we have extras if you don’t), and a reusable water bottle. We have a fill station, plus tea before and after class. Props- blocks, bolsters, blankets, straps- are along the back of the room.
Am I too old, inflexible, or out of shape for yoga?
No. Truly. Our students range from their twenties to their seventies, and many came in saying exactly what you’re thinking right now. Yoga meets you where you are. The Gentle and Restorative classes are designed for bodies that need a little more time, a little more support, or a little more room to figure things out.
How early should I arrive?
Ten or fifteen minutes before class the first time. That gives you time to find us, settle in, meet whoever’s at the desk, and choose your spot.
Where do I park, and how do I find the studio?
Turn off Stony Hill Road at the white sign, right by the railroad tracks, and follow the long country lane down past the pond. There’s a parking area near the buildings. The studio is the biggest building on the property, sitting between the 1683 stone farmhouse and the little cottage. Come right in through the studio door- someone will greet you.
Do I need to sign up ahead of time?
Yes-please book online or through The Prancing Peacock Walla app. Booking ahead guarantees your spot, especially for the busier classes that sometimes fill the day of.
What if I’m running late?
Just let us know- we’ll set a mat for you. Then slip in quietly when you arrive, no need to apologize.
Can I bring a friend?
Yes! Monthly unlimited members (regular and senior) and yearly pass holders each get one guest pass per month. Bring someone along whenever you’d like to share the practice. If you’re on an intro offer or a 10-pack, the guest perk doesn’t apply, but your friend is always welcome to set up their own account and book a class. New friends should grab the intro offer- it’s the best way to try the studio.
Wait! You have goats?
We do. Five goat brothers, two swans on the pond, a lot of chickens, and a flower farm in the warmer months. The studio sits on twelve acres, and you’re welcome to walk the property before or after class. Many people do. The chakra chairs (rainbow Adirondacks out back) are a favorite spot to sit for a few minutes before heading home.
