Mindfulness Meditation

MBSR cultivates the ability to pay attention in an open, non-judgmental way to your surroundings and what is contained in the present moment.

A supportive and safe container is created by paying attention to what arises in daily and class practice through exploring the challenges and how these are met.  Participants figuratively hold one another in a space of compassion, and practice holding their experiences in the same way.

Participating in the MBSR program requires an ongoing commitment to yourself.  You will be asked to attend all classes, including one all-day weekend retreat, and to practice daily home assignments.

MBSR is an 8-week evidence-based program designed to provide participants with systematic training in mindfulness meditation and movement practices and integrating what is discovered and learned into daily life.

Students have taken MBSR for various reasons including facing change, difficult times or health challenges; workplace, family, or financial stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, chronic pain, hypertension, interest in enhancing health and well-being, and a desire to live a fuller life with greater balance.
Participating in the MBSR program requires an ongoing commitment to yourself. You will be asked to attend all classes, including one all-day weekend retreat, and to practice daily home assignments.
MBSR provides systematic training in mindfulness meditation and movement practices and integrating what is discovered and learned into daily life. These practices together with group dialog allow participants to relate differently to stresses in their lives and in fact, relate differently to each moment of
their lives.

People who have taken MBSR for over 40 years report improved attention, relaxation, clarity, improved quality of life and sleep, coping skills for those with chronic pain, reduction in anxiety, depression, stress, and hypertension.

What others say about Prancing Peacock MBSR
The MBSR program requires commitment, but pays off beyond expectations, and one could not ask for a better guide along this path than Brandon. Brandon’s warmth, compassion, and skill as a group instructor keeps meetings productive and well-paced without sacrificing the opportunity for each participant to enjoy a meaningful, personal experience. Brandon’s best teaching tool is his own way of being–open to the present experience of life from moment to moment, accepting of himself, others, and whatever life brings to him.

It helped me be more mindful and experience life more like when I was a child. Which is great. Also, no more anxiety. And finally able to do things for myself without feeling guilty that I am not caring enough for others.

Learning to be present and more accepting of my feelings. Nothing but positive comments. Brandon was great. I was nervous at the beginning of the course, but I feel very comfortable with the format now.
