Gratitude

When I opened the studio over 7 years ago, it was the beginning of a wonderful dream! I taught and signed all the classes in, designed all the workshops, made all the flyers and the the Elixirs after class! (Do you remember them?!) We had a very small community, but there was lots of love! I used to stand at the window and wonder if anyone would come to class. Sometimes just one student would arrive, but I always held the class! You have to start somewhere, and I always had faith. My very first student and good friend Annette, who encouraged me to open, said, “If you build it, they will come.” So we did. One day  I saw a stream of headlights begin to come down the drive, just like Field of Dreams.

When I imagined the studio, I saw all of what is happening now! A vibrant, loving community that nourishes, supports and celebrates every day. Many students call it their Yoga OM. Each  day I feel blessed to have my family work with me. I sit across our big desk in the Peacock Nest from my beautiful daughter Katie and whip up all the classes and workshops you see each week. Dan’s great energy  is a vital part of greeting you before class and he is a chemist  in our new Practical Magic line. My son Chris and his wife Alicia have poured their web and graphic design talents into the website you love so much. My daughter Leslie is enrolled in the yoga teacher training this fall. My husband Larry knows all of you, and keeps everything flowing smoothly. You know every animal that lives here! Even the cats know the schedule, and make sure they are laying on the path to receive their belly rubs, before and after class.
Each and every one of you mean so much to me, and I appreciate all that you have brought to my life. I love practicing with you, laughing with you, crying with you and being a part of your lives.
What a magical life I live, surrounded by my family and so much love every day. I wish you the same.
