What is Barre?

Barre combines movements similar to those used in yoga, pilates, and ballet to create strength, flexibility, and postural alignment. The workout is based on the principles of muscle integration, which uses mostly your own body weight (and small props) to engage all of your muscles to work together to develop a toned and proportionate body through the use of tiny isometric movements.

A barre workout is a great compliment to your yoga practice (which focuses mainly on training the front line of the body) because barre focuses mainly on training the back line of the body, which improves overall functional strength, core and pelvic stability, and posture. Not to mention, it's a great cardio workout too!

What should I wear?

You will probably feel most comfortable in longer pants, leggings, capris or your normal yoga attire. You might also consider wearing toesox (available in our boutique), or another type of sock that has sticky dots on the bottom to help your grip.

Should I arrive a little early before my first class?

We recommend that you arrive 10-15 minutes before class begins.

What should I bring?

We have all the equipment you need, but if you would like to bring a yoga mat for cooldown, you may. It's a good idea to bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated.

Can all levels attend?

We really want to make barre available to everyone. Our teachers are trained to make everyone feel comfortable.
